DETAIL
The PM100D2 and PM100D3 Optical Power and Energy Meter Consoles are the cornerstone of Thorlabs' optical power and energy meters and are the digital counterparts to the PM100A analog power meter console. The consoles (and sensors, sold separately) are ideal for use as CW and pulsed source power meters, incoherent optical source power meters, general light power meters, fiber power meters, and more. The display on the PM100Dx power meter features adjustable brightness settings and the option of using a dark, bright, or black background.

The PM100D2 and PM100D3 consoles are compatible with more than 40 photodiode, slim photodiode, integrating sphere, fiber, thermal, and pyroelectric sensors designed for use from the UV to the Mid-IR, with a bandwidth of up to 100 kHz, depending on the sensor and settings. The PM100D3 console is also compatible with Thorlabs’ thermal position and power sensors.

The S120C power head is designed for general purpose optical power measurements. The head is optimized for small thickness to fit in tight spaces. The high sensitive photodiode with large active area in combination with a reflective, diffused ND filter enables power measurements up to 50 mW in free-space and fiber-based applications. A removeable annular VIS/IR viewing target allows conveniently centering the measured beam to the active area of the photo-diode. The target absorbs light from 400 to 640nm and 800 to 1700nm.

The S130VC with its slim design of only 5mm at the detector side is perfect to fit into tight optical setups. The ruggedized aluminum head with its large active area silicon photodiode can be held by hand or can be mounted with its 8-32 and M4 threaded mounting holes to posts and post holders.

A slideable ND filter enlarges the power range by approximately factor 100; the position of the filter is automatically recognized by the connected console after a few seconds for calculating the power level with the right responsivity value.

The S130VC is compatible with all new Thorlabs display units. A non-volatile memory in the sensor
connector contains sensor information data and the NIST and PTB traceable calibration data.

The S175C Microscope Power Sensor Head is designed to measure the illumination power in microscopes. The housing shares dimensions with a microscope slide and fits standard microscope objective stages in both upright and inverted setups. The thermal sensor can handle a wide power range from less than 100 μW to 2 W in the specified wavelength range.

The power head features a large, high sensitivity thermal detector with a broadband absorber coating. The detector is protected by an easily cleanable even glass window with a refraction index of n = 1.52 that allows the usage of focusing liquids.
To align and focus the beam in inverted setups, an alignment mark is laser engraved to the bottom of the sensor housing.

The NS170C sensor is designed to measure the relative peak power of two-photon lasers by utilizing a second-order nonlinear β-BBO crystal to convert incident ultrafast NIR pulses into their visible second harmonic. Shortpass filters underneath the β-BBO crystal reject the residual NIR light, allowing only the second harmonic light to transmit down to a large area silicon photodiode sensor. At the entrance of the sensor is a 170 µm thick cover glass sealed to the sensor housing, allowing the sensor to be used with dry, water immersion, and oil immersion objectives. The working distance from the top of the cover glass to the β-BBO crystal is 0.22 mm.

a) The specified damage threshold is for objectives with NA > 0.5. The damage threshold will be lower for NA < 0.5.
b) The working range provided is for lasers with a repetition rate of 80 MHz. Because the peak power and peak power density are dependent on the average power and repetition rate of the laser, the upper limit to the working average power range will be lower for lower repetition rates. Exceeding the maximum average power may result in damage to the sensor’s optical components.
c) This specification is for the measured SHG signal.
d) Measured with a PM100D console in low bandwidth setting.
e) Valid for 1/e2 beam diameters >1 mm at the photodiode sensor. Please note that the photodiode sensor is several millimeters below the BBO crystal and for high NA objectives, the beam diameter is expanded appreciably.
f) The NS170C sensor is compatible with all currently available photodiode power meter consoles and interfaces, as well as the previous-generation PM200 and PM320E consoles; it is not compatible with other previous generation Thorlabs power meter consoles.
